Reference built for the way filmmakers actually work.

To The Cut is the shot-reference and cinematography-craft hub for videographers, independent filmmakers, and virtual cinematographers. We're building tools for the whole craft — and Gobeau, which keeps the frame you're watching in one keystroke and makes it findable again in seconds, is the first of them.

What's inside To The Cut

At the core is the craft hub: practical, image-rich guides across nine balanced clusters — shot reference, shot types, lenses, lighting, color and look, previz, style studies, AI cinematography, and virtual production — equal weight, no single centerpiece.

The first tool built into it is Gobeau: keep the frame you're watching in one keystroke — with the film, the timestamp and the source attached — and it reads its own color, shot size and lighting so you can find it again in seconds and hand it off as a clean reference. It's the first of the tools we're building for the craft, not the last.

Reference and learning in one place, built by and for people who actually make the work.

Keep the frame you're watching

One keystroke keeps any shot that stops you — with the film, the timestamp, and where to find it again saved automatically.

Filter by the whole craft

Search by shot type, lens, focal length, lighting, color and look — and by aspect ratio as a first-class filter axis.

Boards & lookbooks

Keep the frames you want and assemble shareable boards for prep, the pitch, the director, or the set.

Shot-by-shot breakdowns

Study how real sequences were built — blocking, coverage, and the look decisions behind each frame.

Craft-literate guides

Concrete, example-driven guides written by and for working filmmakers — practical, never academic.

More tools to come

The mission is building tools for filmmakers — the Gobeau is the first of them, not the last.
